ask Dmitri!

There is no doubt that when it comes to web publishing, the wordpress platform is the way to go. In fact when they did the recent upgrade, it became more user-friendly and less geeky. I can navigate with it’s dashboard a lot better now.

The thing is, even with better navigating capability, I had no darn idea how php works. It’s a good thing I met a few bloggers who were very supportive to geek wannabes and technologically-challenged like me.

Do I have any idea how the new system works? Nada. Zip. Zero. But I know I am in good hands, I have Dmitri….

When I started blogging last year, I had no idea how to do it. I started with the blogger platform, which was very easy for a newbie like me. I had learned basic html in no time. With blogger, I love the way you could see the lay-out of your webpage on the dashboard and the fact that you only needed to know basic html, and you’re good to go.

The better selling point with setting up a free-hosted blog on blogger as compared to wordpress is that, you can still make money out of it. With free hosting at wordpress, you cannot easily put an advertising widget in it. Yep, not even an entrecard widget.

So for bloggers who really wanted to monetize their blog without self-hosting it, blogger is the better way to go. But then, if you are really serious on making money out of blogging, having your own dotcom is also a good way of attracting. And buying your own domain only costs around $10 per year, which is probably cheaper than your weekly Starbucks budget.

And yes, you could still have it hosted for free on blogger. But if you’re like me who tries to look further ahead, it’s better to have your site hosted somewhere else. You can have full control over your site and whatever comes to it.

So I bought my own domain name and had it hosted. Eventually, after much thought and prodding from Bluepanjeet, and to provide better features and easier navigation for me and my readers, I moved to wordpress.

Since day one, I have consulted with one of the blogosphere’s best if not the geekiest, Dmitri. With a bunch of domains under his wing, he authors a lot of sites with a breeze. Based in China where most of the internet is government-filtered, he still manages to publish several sites without being banned from it.

However I try to be, I am no geek or a web expert. So there’s no hiding that up to now, I still ask for his services. And so far, I never had a question that was left unanswered by him. There is no other blogger who would be more than happy to help you out and would provide a better answer.

To put it simply, when it comes to web consulting and wordpress development, you cannot find somebody better than Dmitri.

So if you are new to wordpress or are planning to move and you have questions, go straight to where you can find the answer.

Go ahead…. go ask Dmitri.
